📍 SMP Negeri 41, Jakarta Selatan

Percussion workshop for junior high school students exploring Indonesian traditional instruments and environmental awareness.

About PAS-IC Goes To School

PAS-IC partnered with legendary drummer Gilang Ramadhan to bring percussion education directly to junior high school students in Jakarta. This outreach program introduced young learners to the rich world of Indonesian percussion.

Workshop Focus

This workshop emphasized two interconnected themes:

1. Indonesian Traditional Percussion

Students explored the diversity of Nusantara percussion instruments, learning about:

  • Traditional rhythms and patterns
  • Cultural significance of percussion
  • Hands-on playing experience

2. Environmental Awareness

The workshop addressed an important message about deforestation and its impact on:

  • The environment and ecosystems
  • The availability of materials (bamboo, wood) used to make traditional percussion instruments
  • Our responsibility to preserve both nature and cultural heritage
  • Gilang Ramadhan — Legendary Indonesian drummer and percussionist
  • Bowie Djati — President of PAS-IC

The Experience

Students had a great time learning about percussion and experienced hands-on jamming sessions with the instructors. The workshop aimed to inspire the next generation of percussionists while fostering environmental consciousness.
